Sydney Pollack: 1934 – 2008

Academy Award winner, Sydney Pollack died Monday in his LA home after losing his battle with cancer.

With a career spanning 50 years, Pollack was most known for his multiple Academy Award directing nominations for They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? and Tootsie, as well his Oscar win for the movie Out of Africa.

As an actor, he co-starred in Michael Clayton, Eyes Wide Shut, and The Player.

Also, he shares producing credits for the following: Michael Clayton, Cold Mountain, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and The Fabulous Baker Boys.

He was 73.
